Little did Michael know that 2 minutes on Facebook would turn into 2 months of dating and then getting engaged. He and a friend were at a sporting event when they spotted a girl they knew. His friend said she had a boyfriend, but Mike argued she didn’t and then pulled up Facebook on his phone to prove it. Not “friends” with this girl, he searched for “Melissa” and started scrolling through the names Facebook had populated. As his phone froze and he couldn’t figure out why it wouldn’t keep scrolling, he simply gave up on trying to prove his case.
Mike didn’t realize it at the time, but he had sent Melissa a friend request. And this Melissa wasn’t the Melissa at the game. So when she accepted his request, he wasn’t quite sure what to do. Did he message her that he was searching for someone else so he didn’t seem like a Facebook creeper? Thankfully, Melissa reached out to him first. She noticed they had a mutual friend and thought maybe she had met him before but just couldn’t remember. Aaaand, she thought he was cute. Creeper status never entered her mind since his profile photo was of him and another girl, who she assumed was his girlfriend. After a little stalking of her own, she discovered it was his sister.
Melissa messaged Mike first and he responded with an explanation; several messages back and forth ensued. They finally exchanged numbers to text more easily, and their first date wasn’t long after. Mike’s innocent Facebook mistake turned into one of the best moments of his life when he proposed to Melissa 2 months later, and she said yes!
