Charlottesville Engagement Session: Kate + Elliott

He walked in late and disheveled to their first University of Virginia tennis instructors meeting, and her immediate thought was, “Please don’t let him sit next to me.”  And of all the empty chairs he could have chosen, he chose the one next to her.  At first none too pleased, Kate’s feelings soon took a 180 as she and Elliott got to know one another.  They started dating soon after, with the final “score” being Love.

Kate and Elliott chose to have their engagement session in Charlottesville, since that’s where they met and started dating, and I was 100% excited about this idea!  For a couple of reasons, really. 1) I love when my couples choose a place that has special meaning to them and 2) UVa is my alma mater, and I was excited to revisit my old stomping grounds!  We started at Elliott’s parents’ house not far from the University grounds, then headed to the Rotunda to finish out their session.

Elliott’s dad tends an incredible landscape around the house.  Lots of beautiful garden beds plus gorgeous soft light made for a fantastic setting for photos!

I love all the architecture at UVa, and the incredible evening light…

The sundial by the Rotunda was the perfect spot for a ring shot. It reads:

Time is
too slow for those who wait
too swift for those who fear
too long for those who grieve
too short for those who rejoice
but for those who love time is
ETERNITY
hours fly
flowers die
new days, new ways pass by
love stays.

Elliott and Kate, I had such a wonderful time getting to know you both, and I’m so excited for your wedding this September!  Thank you for a fun session, and for the opportunity to visit my alma mater!  xo
