It was four months before they actually went on a date. When they first met in a Meetup backpacking group, they noticed each other but Don thought another guy had the hots for Kristie, and Kristie thought Don was flirting with someone else. So neither made a move. Until the day Don asked Kristie if she was interested in a hydration pack for hiking…you know, for wine. He was able to get a discount through his company, and she was pretty excited about the prospect of enjoying two things she loved at the same time. After showing up at his company, they ended up chatting for a long time in the parking lot, and Don felt that things were going so well he should just go for it and ask her out.
He didn’t waste time introducing her to his family after just a couple of dates. His folks were supposed to have a huge gathering at their home, but with the impending storm they cancelled the party. Kristie and Don decided to enjoy some wine not far from his parents’ house before heading over, and as the storm picked up they decided they should head out and ran to the truck in the pouring rain. But by the time they reached his parents’ house the creek had overflowed leaving them unable to cross the bridge to the house. They were forced to turn around and ended up waiting out the storm at a friend’s place down the road.
Eventually Don’s parents came to meet them in a row boat since the water was still not receding. They had dinner together, and afterwards drove back to Don’s parents’ house in his two-seater truck. Which meant only one thing – Kristie had to sit in his mom’s lap on the way. And that was Kristie’s first introduction to his family. Meeting Kristie, there’s no way that anyone could not love this girl. She’s sweet, fun, beautiful and kind. And Don? He complements her in every way. What they went through that day solidified their relationship, and after a proposal during a hiking trip they now begin another chapter of their lives.
Kristie and Don chose to have their engagement session at Don’s parents’ house in Sperryville. The colors were vibrant and beautiful, and there were so many fun locations to use!
This barn? Can every session have one please?
You two…. <3
And this?! Seriously?? Hothothot!!
It’s rare these days to see yellow gold engagement rings, so I was thrilled to see Kristie’s custom ring – so beautiful!
Kristie and Don – thank you for the most amazing session to end my year! I’m so excited for your wedding next October – it seems so far away and I already can’t wait for it to get here! xox
